It's Tuesday, so this must be Calgary.

So the hotel I booked myself into for this trip is actually fairly nice. It's not a new place by any stretch, but the rooms have all been the received fairly recent renovations. To tell the truth, the room is huge and I'm rattling around in here. It even has an outside balcony that you can get to if you don't mind knocking over the (surprisingly durable) lamp.

One of the nice features in this room is that it has a flat screen TV out in the living room, and another in the bedroom. I had them both turned on while I was unpacking and putting away my clothes so that I could follow the hockey game. Then when I crawled into bed I shut down the rest of the room and had only the television in the bedroom turned on.

The game ended, followed by the headline news, and I decided to call it a night. I grabbed the remote from the bed stand and hit the power button. The remote does not have an "on" or "off" button, just a single button that toggles the state of the TV. As I put the remote control back on the bed stand and rolled over to sleep, my brain alerted me that something was not right. I rolled back over and glanced out into the living room just in time to see the LG logo on the television disappear, and the program menu come up.

Hmph. I grabbed the remote, pointed it toward the living room and hit the button. The television out there obediently shut off...

... and the one in the bedroom obediently turned itself on again. Guys, seriously. Why did you bother putting two remotes in the room when they're both...

I amused myself toggling the televisions back and forth a few times before I sighed, got up and wrote this entry.
